about us

Laurence Homes, building with integrity and character.

During the past four decades, the Laurence Homes brand has been synonymous with new homes which are traditional in style and built to the highest quality of workmanship.

Our aim has always been to provide new homes of exceptional style set in the outstanding countryside of mid-Suffolk with its gently rolling fields; medieval churches; thatched cottages; town squares and village greens.

Laurence Homes is based in Stowmarket, which has always been a focal point of East Anglia (‘stow’ means meeting place’). The twice-weekly market which dates from the mid 14th Century is still a popular part of the town’s life.

Each of our developments are carefully chosen in sought after locations which offer easy commuting along with relaxing leisure pursuits right on the doorstep.

With a choice of sizes and styles Laurence Homes cater for everyone, from the first-time buyer to large family homes.

Lockington Crescent: ‘We camped in our cars to buy a house’.

In Stowmarket in 1972, some prospective homeowners were able to put down just £50 — and went to great lengths to do so.

The houses, bungalows and 64 plots in the crescent and the yet-to-be-built Danescourt Avenue went on sale at 09:30 BST on 8 April 1972.

But at the end of March, a line of cars started to appear outside the office of developer Laurence Homes. And for up to 17 days the prospective buyers stayed, camping out in their vehicles overnight so they didn’t lose their place.
